Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the following applied from 11 October 2022.

• The Visa Waiver System is reinstated (no visa required for Australian tourists staying in Japan for 90 days or less)

• Anyone entering Japan after April 29, 2023 is no longer required to show a valid vaccination certificate or a test certificate obtained prior to departure.
